BRIDGE Summit 2025 debuts in UAE as world’s largest gathering for media innovation
Abu Dhabi gathering reveals powerful early engagement on BRIDGE App before opening day
ABU DHABI – Thousands of attendees from around the world witnessed the opening of BRIDGE Summit 2025 on Wednesday, marking a historic moment for the global media, entertainment, and content landscape.
Delegations representing governments, cultural institutions, global industries, and creative communities filled the venue as the UAE introduced a new platform designed to reshape cross-sector collaboration. The opening ceremony set an unprecedented standard for a debut media event, drawing attention to the UAE’s expanding role as a connector of ideas, talent, and visions that influence worldwide media discourse.

The three-day summit, held at ADNEC in Abu Dhabi, launched with messages that underscored the UAE’s long-held commitment to dialogue, innovation, and ethical storytelling. The event brings together policymakers, creators, technologists, and industry leaders in a unified arena to evaluate how the future of media can be built on trust, creativity, and human values. With its inaugural edition already registering remarkable digital traction through the BRIDGE App, the Summit has positioned itself as one of the most ambitious collaborative platforms in the industry’s contemporary history.
BRIDGE Summit 2025
Opening the ceremony, Abdulla bin Mohammed bin Butti Al Hamed, Chairman of BRIDGE, stated that the Summit stands as an extension of the UAE’s ethos: a country defined by openness, dialogue, and the building of bridges between cultures. He emphasised that the UAE has always viewed connectivity as an identity, communication as a message, and cooperation as a responsibility shared across nations.
He highlighted that the BRIDGE Summit represents not only a gathering but a forward-looking chapter in shaping the future of media. As artificial intelligence accelerates new forms of interaction, he underscored that no technological advancement can replace the human values that define authentic communication. He noted that words derive meaning from values, news draws weight from credibility, and media gains legitimacy through responsibility.

He outlined three key pillars guiding the next era of media. The first, trustworthy media, prioritises truth and protects the public’s right to accurate information. The second, innovative media, applies technologies such as artificial intelligence and data analytics to raise awareness rather than influence perception improperly. The third, human-centred media, embraces compassion, understanding, and the celebration of differences.
He affirmed that impactful media is defined by the influence it has on minds and hearts, not by the noise it generates. Drawing on guidance from the UAE’s leadership, he noted that the future must be built, not awaited, and that meaningful success is measured by impact rather than position.
He expressed confidence that the partnerships and ideas emerging from BRIDGE Summit 2025 will expand cross-cultural connections. He added that the bridges created at this event will offer future generations greater opportunities to collaborate and innovate. His remarks followed his symbolic inauguration message delivered in seven languages, reflecting the Summit’s mission to unite communities globally through shared purpose and dialogue.
Opening day
Dr Jamal Mohammed Obaid Al Kaabi, Vice Chairman of BRIDGE, welcomed attendees with an overview of the remarkable digital activity that preceded the Summit’s opening. A day before the first official session, the BRIDGE App had already recorded 14,618 messages, 425,000 searches, over 2 million interactions, 7,000 networking actions, and 871 pre-booked meetings.
He noted that these indicators reflected strong early engagement and demonstrated what technologists describe as “product market fit”. The global community was already connecting, networking, and forming partnerships even before the Summit’s physical doors opened.

Al Kaabi emphasised the importance of trust as the foundation of meaningful connection and remarked that stories are the strongest vehicles for building that trust. He shared that BRIDGE’s journey included listening tours from Washington to London, Cannes to Tokyo, and Seoul to Shanghai, gathering insights from diverse media communities. These interactions shaped the Summit’s development and reinforced its global relevance.
He highlighted that when individuals share their stories openly, they reveal their experiences, challenges, and ambitions. This mutual understanding leads to new ideas and fresh partnerships, strengthening the foundation for global cooperation. He underlined that BRIDGE’s growth has been driven by these shared stories, which now bind the Summit’s expanding international community.
Reflecting on the origins of the initiative, he explained that BRIDGE began eight months earlier with a fundamental question: why were leaders driving innovation across industries and generations operating independently rather than collaboratively? This question inspired the creation of a unified global space where creators, innovators, and decision-makers could meet as members of a single ecosystem instead of isolated sectors.
He compared belief-driven initiatives to historic declarations, noting that major achievements often begin with conviction before strategy. He cited Dr Martin Luther King Jr’s “I have a dream” as an example of how transformative progress starts with vision rather than detailed plans.
He concluded by describing media, content, and entertainment as forces capable of building trust, stimulating growth, and cultivating unity. Yet, despite their influence, they had never shared a single global home. BRIDGE Summit aims to fill that gap, offering a platform where the media industry can reflect, collaborate, and redefine its future. He added that at BRIDGE, disruption is not an end, but a tool for purposeful progress.
BRIDGE Alliance
Addressing the attendees, Richard Attias, strategist and Chairman’s Strategic Advisor to BRIDGE Alliance, described the Summit as the result of a clear conviction: that the global media community lacked a central space for brainstorming, connecting, and building long-term partnerships.
He explained that BRIDGE Summit 2025 transforms that conviction into reality by offering a shared home for the world’s media stakeholders. Built with the dedication of more than 1,000 people in the UAE, the platform has evolved from an idea into an alliance representing a wide spectrum of the global media landscape.

He noted that the BRIDGE Alliance now brings together leading figures in content, entertainment, communication, strategy, and innovation. From its inception eight months earlier, the initiative has grown into a formative platform that he expects will soon establish itself as a leading global space for media development. He welcomed participants to what he described as a home, a voice, and a future for the industry.
Evolution of communication
The opening ceremony continued with a short film that traced the progression of human communication. Beginning with early gestures and cave etchings, the film highlighted the development of language as the first bridge between people. It depicted the evolution of communication through the scribes of Mesopotamia, the knowledge preserved in the libraries of Alexandria, and the monumental shift brought about by the printing press.
The narrative followed communication’s transformation through the invention of cinema, radio, and television, leading to the moment in 1969 when a message transmitted between two computers redefined the digital age. It addressed the complexities of modern information ecosystems, where misinformation spreads quickly and artificial intelligence blurs the boundary between accuracy and distortion.
Positioning the UAE within this global evolution, the film emphasised its role as a crossroads where traditions, technologies, and cultures intersect. Following the film, a young Emirati delivered a reflection on the importance of discernment in an age shaped by artificial intelligence. The message centred on staying anchored in truth while embracing technological change.
The ceremony also featured a choreographed performance by eight contemporary dancers. Their piece depicted a fragmented world burdened by mistrust gradually finding connection through the act of building a bridge, symbolising the Summit’s guiding vision.
Emcee Tumi Magkabó reinforced the significance of today’s rapidly shifting content ecosystem. She noted that gaming now rivals television and film in global engagement, that 67% of content creators use artificial intelligence in some form, and that cross-sector collaborations have increased by 340% in three years. She welcomed attendees to what she described as the largest debut media event in the world.
The debut edition of BRIDGE Summit continues in Abu Dhabi from 8 to 10 December 2025, bringing together global leaders to shape the future trajectory of the media and content industries.
